Salesforce
Public Statements Risk
CEO Marc Benioff is a famous businessman, has associations with former President George W. Bush, and is an active donor to several environmental organizations. He also donated PPE during COVID both nationally and abroad. Benioff and Salesforce cancelled all employee programs and travel to Indiana after they passed a law discriminating against the LGBTQ+ community. Benioff also led the fight against the act. Further, he publicly announced his support for increased taxes on large corporations and announced that Salesforce will relocate any Texas employees who want to move after the state's anti-abortion law went into effect.

Political Contributions Risk
Salesforce contributes overwhelmingly to Blue causes at more than a 9:1 ratio compared with Red donations, and approximately the same ratio of contributions from senior executives to those from the company PAC. Salesforce contributes at a very high level, but is on par with the Information Technology sector and close competitors. The company contributes to controversial politicians Joe Biden and Kamala Harris. Risk is raised by donation size and partisanship but donation magnitude is on par with the sector, mitigating risk slightly.

Political Dichotomy Risk
Salesforce has been increasingly active in the political space; the company and its executives have supported the LGBTQ+ community vocally as well as directly participating in a fight against anti-LGBTQ+ legislation. Additionally, the company is supportive of environmental organizations and movements, and acknowledges this within its 10K as a risk factor. The company heavily supports Democrats and its customer base's political orientation is challenging to pinpoint due to the broad use and necessity of sales technology. Resultingly, there seems to be a medium to low risk that any additional political stance that Salesforce may assume would instigate a boycott given their already vocal stance. Salesforce's public profile is typical of the IT sector, providing insulation from specific targeting.

Associational Risk
In 2020, the company donated to Biden, Sanders, and Warren, highlighting a left-leaning company and associations with some controversial politicians through funding. The company is also associated with a group called "Tech for Campaigns", which they have funded in the past. The group aims to flip legislatures blue around the country. The CEO Marc Benioff is a potentially risky association because he is known to be highly progressive. However, Benioff has also contributed to controversial Republican Kevin McCarthy.

Brand Visibility Risk
Salesforce, like Oracle, is primarily a B2B software company. It is somewhat more exposed, being used by end users for recruiting, sales, customer service, and other more interactive roles. As such, its brand is more well-known and the degree of public scrutiny is much higher.
