EA
Public Statements Risk
Electronic Arts is a high-profile company in the gaming and software development world. Andrew Wilson, the current CEO, is generally low-profile and does not make any public or media statements regarding government or politics. The main controversies facing the company regard microtransactions in their games where players must pay to play. That being said, EA is a behemoth in an industry known for its engaged and outspoken fans, naturally increasing the risk of mistakes as well as their gravity. The brand's frquently unfavorable, yet unavoidable reputation with its customer base may provide a counterintuitive 'risk ceiling'; if everyone expects disappointment, you can only disappoint them so much.

Political Contributions Risk
Electronic Arts donates very little, almost exclusively to Democrats, and entirely through its senior executives. Benchmarked to the Communication Services industry, EA is a medium contributor in the lesser half of its sector where contribution partisanship varies greatly. EA contributes to some controversial figures such as Kamala Harris and Joe Biden. Their political contributions land them between their S&P500 industry competitors.

Political Dichotomy Risk
Electronic Arts has released multiple statements in support of Pride month, transgender rights, and the LGBTQ+ communities. The company is publicly very left-leaning and has been threatened by employees in the past regarding these statements. Employees announced a walk-out if the company did not publicly support transgender rights, then the walkout was cancelled after EA released a statement in support. The corporation suggests that some risks towards their business relate to keeping consumer attention, and there have been multiple online posts regarding the boycotting of Electronic Arts games due to their repetitive products and lack of compensation for athlete name, image, and likeness in-game. Yet, EA has done a great job addressing critics with press releases, addressing and clarifying active work with athletes to optimize compensation models. With a vast customer base, and their position as a publisher, there seems to be little political risk for this company due to the efforts that Electronic Arts takes to address controversy.

Associational Risk
There is no obvious evidence of links between EA and any figures or PACs that pose risk for boycott. Their social media only includes business-relevant content.

Brand Visibility Risk
Brand visibilty is similar to that of their close competitor Activision Blizzard, which has also been at the center of public controversy. EA is slightly more insulated against risk with its target market less engaged with the gaming industry and its attendant drama, but they still have had major PR issues that forced them to adjust media strategies. This implies significant visibility and therefore risk.
